The company was founded by Travis Haley, a former U.S. Marine Force Reconnaissance operator with decades of experience across military, private contracting, and law enforcement roles. After multiple combat deployments and years in special operations, he became a leading figure in modern firearms training—helping bring high-level tactical knowledge to a broader audience through companies like Magpul Dynamics before launching Haley Strategic. His approach goes beyond shooting, focusing on mindset, adaptability, and personal growth, positioning him as both a tactical innovator and a coach on performance and resilience.

We will be releasing the FlatPack X with Haley Strategic on May 8, 2026, which happens to be Travis Haley’s 50th and Gabriel Tam’s 40th birthday, commemorating the 10th anniversary of the HSP FlatPack.

Built in collaboration with Haley Strategic, the FlatPack X is the result of a decade of refinement focused on one thing: helping you carry smarter, move faster, and adapt without compromise. It builds on the legacy of the original FlatPack, a benchmark in minimalist assault packs, now reimagined with upgraded materials, improved comfort, and mission-driven enhancements.

Constructed from durable X-Pac laminate, the FlatPack X delivers exceptional strength and weather resistance without added weight. Redesigned expanding gussets allow the pack to shift quickly from a low-profile setup to full capacity while maintaining stability on the move. Updated shoulder straps with laser-cut MOLLE provide better ergonomics, cable routing, and modularity, while custom triglides and upgraded YKK hardware ensure everything stays secure under load.

Finished with reinforced #8 YKK zippers and ruggedized pulls, the FlatPack X is built for long-term use in demanding environments. The included FlatPack X bundle adds even more versatility with a backpad, shoulder pads, and an X-Pac GP panel, giving you a complete, ready-to-run system right out of the box.

Construction

Aramid X-Ply is a high-performance reinforcement technology, most notably used in X-Pac X50 Tactical fabric, consisting of 400-denier aramid fibers laid in a diagonal “X” pattern. It provides exceptional tear strength, rigidity, and abrasion resistance while remaining lightweight.
